Submit application: Click on "Submit Application" above to start the application. Complete application requirements: After submitting the application form, go to the Checklist to proceed with the admissions requirements. Admissions Committee review: After the admissions requirements are complete, the Admissions Committee will review your child’s application and provide an admissions decision, or request further information or testing. Admissions decision: If accepted, you will receive an offer of acceptance through the online portal, OpenApply. Complete the Enrollment Contract to confirm your child’s space. We recommend completing the initial application form on a computer. You can also access your OpenApply account and stay up-to-date with your child’s application through the OpenApply mobile app: iOS (Apple) or Android . Deadlines for Applications 2024-25: open for international and local applicants Local applicants must complete the application process by 15 May 2024 Note: The 2023-24 school year finishes on 7 June 2024. The Admissions Office will be open during the break, but response time will be delayed. Prospective families are highly recommended to complete their applications in May. School starts at 8:00 AM. Early years 3-4 students finish at 12:00 PM. Early years 5 to grade 12 finish at 3:20 PM (2:00 PM on Wednesdays). EY3 and EY4 students may attend half or full day. Half day is 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM; full day is 8:00 AM - 3:20 PM / 2:00 PM on Wednesdays. WHEN DOES THE SCHOOL YEAR BEGIN? ICS follows the northern hemisphere school calendar and the school year runs from mid-August to June. The full calendar is available HERE . WHAT ARE THE CLASS SIZES? ICS serves about 940 students from over 70 countries. Most grade levels have three or four sections at each grade level. Elementary School The elementary school grade levels are set up in learning hubs, with teaching teams working with students in a flexible learning space. Early Years 3 and 4: 8 to 1 student to teacher ratio Early Years 5: 9 to 1 student to teacher ratio Grade 1: 10 to 1 student to teacher ratio Grade 2: 11 to 1 student to teacher ratio Grades 3-5: 12 to 1 student to teacher ratio Middle and High School Classes have a maximum of 24 students. Some classes may be smaller, especially in the high school, due to the range of class options available. WHEN CAN MY CHILD START AT ICS? We encourage families to plan your transition to Addis to allow your children to start school at the beginning of the school year. The beginning of the second semester in January is a good alternative. However, we understand that this is not always possible. Please contact the Admissions Office to discuss your child’s start date. This is critical for incoming high school students, due to credit requirements for graduation. Elementary and middle school students are generally not allowed to start school less than 30 days before the last day of the school year. Students who wish to start during the last quarter of the year will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We ask families for a term commitment for the enrollment of a student. Therefore tuition is charged per financial term. Students who attend for any portion of a financial term are charged the full term tuition. The financial terms are August to December and January to June. Local applicants (those already attending school in Addis) may start school at the beginning of the school year in August. CAN MY CHILD ATTEND AS A PART-TIME OR SHORT-TERM STUDENT? Students must be enrolled as full-time students and must reside with a parent or guardian in Ethiopia. Students should attend for at least one semester, and tuition is charged by semester. DO YOU ACCEPT STUDENTS WHO HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS OR WHO NEED LEARNING SUPPORT? ICS Addis is a responsibly inclusive school. We welcome students with different learning needs, within the capability of our student support program. As we have limited space in our student support program, and there are few local resources in Addis, families must contact the Admissions Office in advance to confirm if we are able to support a student (admissions@icsaddis.org). IS THERE A SCHOOL UNIFORM? ICS does not have a school uniform. Students in middle and high school (grades 6-12) are expected to follow the ICS " Dress for Success " guidelines.
